i would like to know what it is like for British women living in Egypt?

I met my Egyptian boyfriend nearly a year ago and i have been vistiting him as much as i could from the UK and we both love each other very much and he would like me to move over to be with him in the near future i would like to know the following

1How easy is it to get work (i am well educated with a uni degree and will be living in Sharm with him)

2I have been told that if you have a one way ticket there and wish to buy a ticket back to the UK and have been in Egypt for more than 28 days you have to leave from Cairo is this true?

3 Visa info

4 How you are treated by the locals

5 Are you happy living in Egypt

And any other information that would be usefull to me thank you very much

1- Getting work in Egypt is not easy with the urrent unemployment rates... Byt it depends on your field of expertise and living in Sharm will restrict your options to tourism.



2- There are no restrictions on from where you can leave or get a ticket as long as your visa is still valid and you are departing from an international airport... i.e. with immigration and customs facilities.



3- The duration of your tourist visa is usually one month extendable twice (three month each). For longer periods you'll need a residence permit... So you should either get a work permit... if you get a job that fulfills the requirments of the immigration act... Or a residential permit if you purchase a property or invest more than $50K in Egypt. Or a permit to accompany your spouse if you legally get married to an Egyptian Citizen... All the above mentioned permits are issued for a duration of stay of 5 years renewable (Except the work permit).



4- As a foreigner expect some extra attention... some times it can be annoying... But I don't think you'll have that problem in Sharm El Sheikh... its a popular tourist destination and people there got used to the extensive presence of Foreigners...



5- As an Egyptian I love living in Egypt... But unfortunately I wouldn't be able to answer this question from a foreigners point of view... which are usually extreme... I know foreigners either love it... or hate it... there are no in betweens.

you can get a good job by few search and help



about living with your boy friend:

as egypt is islamic country we don`t accept these relations

if he love you he must marry you otherwise you would suffer from some legal problems

If someone tell you "I heard it's not good there" don't believe him.

If someone told you "they treat women like..." most probably she has something wrong in her personality and the result reflected on her.

I think you'll never find a country with a high rate of unemployment and many other problems came from the population number and welcome others to come and live with them like Egypt.

I mean although resources are not considerable to population, but we always welcome nice people to come and live with us.



I advise you much understanding for the differences. Much knowledge about the mentality. Don't expect life can be so easy unless there is enough money.

Its a very different world out there outside the EU



You will be a woman in an Islamic country, this means you will be treated as a second class citizen with fewer rights than males. You will not have the personal freedom and equality you have here.

I seriously wouldn't recommend it, I have stayed for a long time in Egypt before and they treat women like ****, especialy foreigners.
