Does anyone have advice for getting my fiance a Visa to the USA from Egypt?

I am traveling to Egypt this fall to get married to my fiance in Cairo. I am an American citizen, and he is Egyptian. We don't have a clue how to get him a Visa to travel back to the U.S. with me, once we are officially married. And we are both very limited in our finances. Neither of us have a clue what to do to prepare for this life-changing occasion. Can he even come here once we are married? Someone please help! We are in love, and don't know what to do!

ok, what the other ppl have told you is true, but only if you are in his country immigrating him, i am going through the same thing right now, i am american and married to egyptian, i went to egypt, married him there, then i came back to america, i started the immigration process immediately, now it has been 3 months and the process is almost complete, he now has been approved for his visa and he will have his meeting with the ambassador and do his medical and police record, but however, i didnt have to show anything like bank statements and all of this and i paid for the immigration pprs here when i was doing them, if you go back to your country and immigrate him from there then the process is easier, and also when he does have his meeting with the ambassador he needs to take pics showing you was with him and his family there, showing of airline tickets and all of this is good too, but your first step is to marry him in cairo, come back to usa and start the immigration pprs, you will do the I130 ppr first, and then you will wait up to 30 days for a receipt showing on this ppr and then you can do the I129F, this will put him in line for a visa faster and he can even come on a K3 visa, if you choose to do this ppr then you will wait up to another 30 days for the receipt on it, then after this you will wait up to 90 days for an approval letter, and you will then receive a letter of approval or denial, if approved, then you will wait up to another 90 days and you will receive another letter stating that they are going to contact him in cairo, then he will get a pack of pprs sent to his home telling him everything he has to do, he will have to do a medical check and this can take up to 1.5-2 weeks to complete, of course he can get his police record in one day, then he will meet the ambassador and if he is approved then he can wait up to 14 days to take his visa, and then of course he will be coming to you. what makes this process hard to go through is that you miss each other a lot, but just keep the contact by phone and net everyday and you will see success!!!!!! good luck to you

First of all, there is a huge difference between getting the visa when married and when not. It is much easier when u guys are married.



- You need to start applying for a visa now, cause it takes roughly 4-6 weeks for males due to the terrible restrictions on males from the middle east.



- visit the web page of the American embassy in Cairo and read carefully the information.



- You did not specify what kind of visa does he want? is it a temprorary tourist visa or residency? there is a major difference.

it's not as easy as you might think. the process will take you at least 3 month. first you need to marry him there in egypt. the arabic papers have to be translated to english and then you can start applying for a spouse visa at american embassy in cairo. bring all your bank statements, employee papers, ssn, tax papers etc. with you. you will need to show them at the embassy to be able to sponsor him. he has to undergo some easy medical check up, fotos, fingerprints, police report from egypt, that he had never commited a crime.

make sure, he wasn't married before or you have a hard time to prove, that he's divorced.

if he is muslim you must convert to muslim prior the marriage, you can do that in egypt.

the paperwork cost about 500$ for it. after about 3 month you both have an interview at american embassy, taking fingerprints etc. within about 3 weeks he will get his visa, if his papers are ok and the backgroundcheck didn't bring up anything negative.

then you can travel together back to usa. at the airport he give away his package of papers and it takes between 3 month and 1 year for him to receive his first conditional green card for 2 years. don't forget please.... you sponsor him, you are responsible for him! you pay all his living (he won't get a work permit before the green card), his medical and all. he can't even make a driver's licence (his international one is only good for 10 days) or open a bank account..absolute zero! you bring him, you feed him. if he has accident and go to hospital, you are bankrupt!

It won't be easy, you will have to fill out the proper paperwork and even then it will take a long, long time. I know someone that had to have a sponser and that sponser had to promise to support the immigrant for 3 years in the event he couldn't work. That sponser had to hand over his tax info for the last 5 years and a bunch more paperwork. It was a nightmare, but after about a year or more that person was allowed to enter the US. That person was in Jordan and was a Jordan citizen. Just know it won't be easy. And.......... just to tell you, life between an arab and american is way too different, love isn't enough to get you through 50 years of culture differences unless you are willing to totally abandon who you are and what you think.

if u will marry him this will be more easy to get visa, but if it is only engagament then more diffculot to get visa. finish the paper marriage first and then try get him the visa. american embassy in famous place at cairo and them website full of information. wish u good luck

well i think u just go to the american embassy in egypt and apply for a spouse papers but it is going to take a year or so for him to be able to come to america about the visa try to get one and if he is lucky he will get one.

hunny listen to me carefully. i live in england my fiance also lives in cairo we have been together for 3 years. ive travelled backwards and forwards to egypt to be with him. we applied for a visa 2 times which cost altogether 500.00 english pounds. both times we were refused. even if we were married in cairo we would not be able to get a husband visa for him. any way. he had to change his job. hes now a journalist for a large news paper in egypt. and just after 3 years got accepted for a international visa. last week. all we got to do is get the financies for a flight from cairo to england. 1st. you must be married for 2 years and be able to prove to the embassy youve been married all this time. you have also got to prove you have been travelling for this time to. a few pointers to remember here. never reveal you met on the net. itll be no from the word go. never show the authorities you sent him any money. you will how ever need. 6 months bank statements, 6 months wage slips. a proof that you are living at your address and property. like rent card, council tax forms all in your name. you must be working 40 hours a week and have had this job for 6 months. not forgetting some bills with your name on them. your old travell tickets to egypt. your passport. all this has to be photo copied. and sent in a bulk to your husbands address. he will have to have papers like his i.d. number. to prove to the authorities he is working and can support him self in a flight ticket to usa. and to show them that he has sufficient enough money to keep him self in the time he will stay with you. and again if you are married you have to produce your marriage certificate. youll have 2 copies one for you and him. these will be in arabic you must get them transfered into english before you send these papers off. then after you got all these papers together your husband will have to go to the embassy and book an appointment. they will give him a interview date and time to go. he will then have to give them all his papers and yours. with the payment to pay for the visa. which as i said is 250.00 english pounds.im not sure how this will be in dollars but you can find the amount on any .gov website. if he is refused in any way he will be given a stamp to say hes been refused. and they will keep the money if hes been accepted or refused. it has took us 3 years to get a visa. if your love is as strong as you hope then you will do it eventualy. but its not an easy thing ok. so be prapared. im only giving you an insight on how things are. its hard believe me. be lucky to you both. you will hit bad times and good. let me know how you get on and if i can help you in any way please get in touch.
