They use EGP (Egyptian Pounds) and they are called Gineeh in Arabic.

Thats a good site for conversion:

Yes, you can pay for tourist VISA in the airport for around USD15 :-)

I have made a journal of my Cairo trip on my blog if you are interested. It will give you an idea:

The Egyptian currency is the Egyptian Pound. You can find rates at any kind of currency converter website. Early 2009 it was about 8 to 1 for the Euro.. about 5 to 1 for the US dollar. The major tourist sites were about 40 Eg. pounds for entry- a cab ride should run about 5- 10. To give you an idea of how much money to bring and what things are worth

The visa was 15 USD.

Sharm is awesome. Great coral reefs. Have a nice trip!!!

Currency (money) used is the Egyptian Pound:

1 British Pound(s) = 9.22655 Egyptian Pound(s)

1 EGP = 0.108383 GBP

1 GBP = 9.22655 EGP

You may get a Visat the AirPort in Egypt when entering the country, better to verify first but that's the usual.

The Fees are not much

It is a nice country yo will love it.. Have a nice trip

Currency Used: L.E- Livre Egyptiane

Depeding on Currency converters (rates)/market: 1 GBP= 9 L.E

However, most egyptians pronounce the currency (L.E) as 'Gin-e-a' (Arabic-first language). I have not been to Sharm El Sheikh but everyone native or non-native loves it mainly due to these points: Sandy/private beaches, luxury hotels, coral reefs, small resorts, hot weather etc.. Have a fun trip.

EGP [Egyptian pound]

You can find the rate easily on line or when you exchange.

Sharm is very interesting and you'll think about going again, so try to know as much as you can about it. There are tourists from many countries use to come regularly. I suggest that you also make excursions and visit other places like [Ras Muhamed] natural conservative 35 KM from Sharm.

St. Catherine monastery and mouses mount.

Next time you can visit Taba and try the Safari.

Egypt's currency is Egyptian pounds or LE. For the visa you need to ask the embassy. Egypt is very amazing and you'll like it a lot there. Good luck!

Egyptian Pounds (known as Geneih)

- worth about 11p (the rate varies).

You usually buy them there (in fact they may not be available here)

You normally need a visa from the UK. If you can get to see the archaeological bits (all on the Nile) you will enjoy it more.
